This is one of my favourite series... I Newfoundland had 20 cent pieces for a long while before converting to a 25 cent piece which only lasted for two date issues. Conversely Canada had a 20 cent piece for only one year (1858) before it was determined that they should adopt the U.S. system with the 25 cent piece which encouraged parity and trade.

I have nothing from Newfoundland, so just posting a date match. Looking at these coins, Queen Victoria seems to have aged far better on your side of the water. United Kingdom - Victoria Threepence 1900

Quote: The round ends on Wednesday, so let us see if we can exceed 8 submissions, which is I believe the most that we have had on a round. There are ten competitors so far. 6 - oriole 5 - Arkie 4 - AgCoinAu 3 - Spence 3 - Dorado 3 - jbuck 3 - bungle 2 - pepactonius 2 - bd251 2 - Coopertron5000

Since there is already a winner, might as well post my favorite rather than closest:

OK, folks, we had 11 participants the last round. Let us see if we can beat that! Up for your viewing pleasure is one of, if not my most favorite coin, a 1 Daler S. M. from Sweden, dated 1746 (the date is a bit hard to make out for lack of contrast). This is also known as "plate money", and there is nothing on the other side. I got this piece at a F.U.N. show a few years ago. I had wanted one ever since I saw a specimen that a collector in my city had. Sadly, that piece was sold/ donated to a museum and never went to another collector, although there were a number that wanted it. The point scheme is as follows: A. 2 points for the exact country, 1 point for any other from the rest of Scandinavia (Finland, Denmark and Norway). B. 2 points for the exact date, 1 point for a date within the reign of Frederick the 1st, 1720-1751. C. 2 points for something with the denomination 1 Daler S.M (not the same as Riksdaler). 1 point for either Riksdaler, multiples or fractions of Daler S.M., or a single Thaler or Dollar (terms linguistically similar to Daler). D. 2 points for any numismatic item in metal, including medals, excluding the plate money itself, that is equal or larger in size to this one in either width, height or diameter to this one. Equal we will say is 13 cm. 1 point if the item is 10 cm to 13 cm. I have excluded the plate money itself so that the point count cannot exceed 6 points. Preferably you demonstrate the size with a ruler, but if you give your word of honour, I will believe you. The reason for D is that it would be fun to see some BIG items, which would most likely be medals. So a big Swedish medal dated 1746 would count as 6 points!

It looks like two points is the most I can get this round, so here is a Swedish 1 öre piece from 1753:

Good! Only 11 more participants are needed. It is in pretty rough shape!
