Not sure if this has been played yet, but let's keep it simple: the largest number of squares on a coin wins.

In this case there are 12 squares. Points: 12.
The "squares" near the circumference do not count as they are not truly square (which is a shape with four equal sides and corners of 90 degrees).

Nice challenge, NumisEd!
I'll start with this Netherlands 2½ Gulden 1983 for a score of 16. An interesting aspect of these coins is that they have 9:00 rotation - halfway between coin and medal alignment.
