If you count pawn shops that have good coin sections, around 20, I'd guess. I always plan any drive my wife and I are traveling to include a few coin shops, if possible.

I believe 13, but I haven't visited one in close to 20 years.

The nearest city to me is about a 45 minute drive away, and there was one coin shop there that I visited quite often. So far, that is the only one I have ever been to. But due to construction in the mall that coin shop was located in, it has been closed for a couple years now. I am pretty sure the side it was located in—where most of the small shops were located in—is being turned into a Superstore. Because, you know, we need a third one of those in this city.

I've been collecting off and on for almost 60 years. The first shop I visited was in Garland Tx in the early 60's. I do not remember the original owner's name but the 2nd owner I knew well. It has been closed several years now.

Since that first coin shop visit in the 60's, I have probably visited around 50 shops here in Texas and maybe 25 in other parts of the country when traveling.

I still try to drive by out of town shops when traveling and see if they are still there. On my last trip one of the old coin shops is now a tatoo shop on one end and a an e-smoke shop on the other end!

Just two for me, since I started collecting again a couple of years ago. One biggish, one smallish. There are a couple others in the area but I haven't bothered to brave the traffic or the concept of "pawn shop".

Maybe 10. To be honest, some stores look at you funny if you're not a regular so I kind of gave up checking out coin stores in cities where I won't return regularly.

Does ebay count?
If it does, then add two to my total. Now, that is something I could not say a year ago!

The last time I went to an LCS was in October 2001. Other than the recent ebay experiences and a few CCF deals, it has been all coin shows for me.

Possibly in a future topic! It would be interesting to see how many ebay sellers members have done business with. With coin shops and dealers at shows, relationships/integrity matter a lot but on eBay/paypal with their guarantees it is not quite as essential to know the seller can make good on their side of the bargain.

I have one within 100 miles that I visit regularly. In the last two years I've been to probably 30 shops since I try to get an afternoon while traveling to see a local shop or two. Those that I've been to that I would return to? Probably 3-4 at most. It's rare I find a place that is not over the top or bullion heavy on the one end, or at the other end with mostly lower quality than I'm looking for to add to the collection. I still like shows and shops where I can see things first hand and talk to a human. Call me old fashioned I guess.

We have at least a half dozen where I live. I've visited four of them, and the booth of a fifth that was set up at a late summer festival last year. Of the four, I visit 2 fairly regularly, the third I wish I could visit more regularly (kind of out of the way when I don't have the family with me), and the fourth is considerably out of the way since I changed jobs a few months ago.

I've been to two coin shops. One I could walk to and barely break a sweat, but of course that one's just awful. But the other shop - well, it's probably for the best that it's awhile away, because I could see myself spending a lot there if given half a chance. There are, I think, one or two other coin shops in the same area, and I'd like to check them out someday too, but I just don't get to visit the one I know is good often enough to justify switching things up.

I'd say around three dozen. I try to hit them up whenever I'm in a new town. You never know where you'll find something you like.
