South Africa 2 1/2 Shillings 1897 Mintage: 149,160 This is the coin that first sparked my interest in collecting. Found in amongst a box of world coins from my great grandfather, at the time 1897 seemed unimaginably old- now my collecting has gone back over a thousand years. The buzz of not having a clue what it was and the satisfaction that came from identifying it.

I guess a denomination of three counts as odd, meaning my lowest mintage goes to my 3 kreuzer piece from the German state of Frankfurt, 1850, with a mintage of 182,300:

I didn't realize it was world silver day already! This coin might not technically have an odd denomination, but it's probably my lowest-mintage non-crown-sized world silver... Elbing, Swedish occupation of, solidus, 1657. Obverse: CAROL GVST D G, crowned CG monogram within inner circle Reverse: SOLIDVS PRVSSIAE 57, arms of Elbing in cartouche within inner circle KM# 65 (listed as "rare"), Numista 96629 (rarity 97 - only my example), Kopicki 9655 (R7, estimated 4-6 examples known).

Quote: R7, estimated 4-6 examples known Nice work @J1M--that certainly counts as rare!

More eye candy from @barryg! Here is my somewhat weary 1875-CC Twenty Cent Piece (mintage 133,290):

1875 S Twenty Cents ~ 1,155,000 minted My biggest regret with the 20 cent coin is that I had a beautiful VF 1875 CC and sold it in the 80's for peanuts before the CC's took off. My original purchase price for the CC was $35.00. Can you believe that? It also was one of my first coin purchases. I am glad I at least have this one that looks a lot better than these images. This one has some luster which does not show in my pictures.
