Half! Good for you!
I have ridden the NYC subway and the Staten Island ferry, I did not use a token like those.

I do not collect tokens as such but I found these U.S. transit tokens on my recent trip to the Philippines and thought they were interesting.

My Christmas present to myself in the last hour.
1976 heavy .999 silver New Rochelle Washington-Paine Medal.

Two quotes appear on the obverse by Thomas Paine

"These are the times that try men's souls"
and
"The Constitution is the guide which I can never abandon"
A-Continuing-Thread-~-Post-Your-Tokens,-Medals,-Exonumia-Acquisitions

Reading about Thomas Paine teaches one about the fruits of resentment.
He was known as "The Father of the American Revolution" and one of "The Founding Fathers of the United States".
He authored the two most influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution, Common Sense and The American Crisis and he inspired the rebels in 1776 to declare independence from Britain.

Paine was an enthusiastic supporter of the French Revolution, and was granted honorary French citizenship alongside prominent contemporaries such as Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and others.

He was arrested in France and criticized Washington, who was his life-long friend, for conspiracy and for letting him sit in jail.

In the end, he had no friends but death, nowhere to be buried, except under a walnut tree on his farm.
His body was dug up by William Cobbett and his bones were transported with him back to England with the intention to give Paine a heroic reburial on his native soil, but this never came to pass.
The bones were still among Cobbett's effects when he died over twenty years later, but were later lost.
There is no confirmed story about what happened to them after that, although various people have claimed throughout the years to own parts of Paine's remains, such as his skull and right hand.

Thanks TNG. I know they aren't anything special, but the Gas and Oil connection these have makes them irresistible to me.

A few more are on the horizon ...

( 1972 )
1797 USS Frigate Constellation Medal
A-Continuing-Thread-~-Post-Your-Tokens,-Medals,-Exonumia-Acquisitions
USS Constellation was a nominally rated 38-gun wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy. She was named by George Washington to reflect a principle of the United States Constitution.
Special Souvenir Medals, struck from copper spikes used in the original construction of the ship, were mailed to various Navy Commands throughout the world and the funds raised helped defer some of the costs of Constellation reconstruction, then ongoing in Baltimore. Mintage may be 25,000 and these might have been issued in 1972.
It might be possible to board the ship in Baltimore Harbor with Free Admission if this medal is shown.

1970 Medallic Art Co Maine Sesquicentennial Bronze Medal

A-Continuing-Thread-~-Post-Your-Tokens,-Medals,-Exonumia-Acquisitions

Well, Maine is Maine. I have been there but it is a huge state. I only went along the coast and saw the lighthouses, sailboats, lobster traps and lobster and fishing boats. Ate lobster in a restaurant and it was good but cost as much as anywhere else.
Nice place from what I saw, but if it is 6 degrees here in December, I'd hate to know what it is like in the middle of the wilderness in Maine right now.
What I really liked about this medal was the eagle flying and the Indian on the cliff of the lake.

1976 Franklin Mint Bicentennial Medals of the 50 States

Oklahoma

Now don't think I am "corny" but I have also been to Oklahoma.
My favorite thing about Oklahoma is the musical. I just love that movie and have seen the play.
All the troubles in this world today and watching a show like that makes everything OK!

Did you get that Constellation from me on ebay? I've owned about a hundred of them (don't know how living on the opposite side of the country). And per Facebook message with the museum, they still are good for getting you on the boat for free. Might have to ask for a manager though, if the person working the ticket booth is unaware of them
