Were it mine, I would leave it as is and use it. If you pop out the coin, it will probably have solder on it or marks as seen on formerly Encased Coins. The obverse appropriates Pierre Simon Duviver's design from the "Washington Before Boston" Comita Americana medal. The reverse is taken from John Reich's design for the Thomas Jefferson Indian Peace Medal, first seen in 1801. The Mint presently offers this medal in 1-5/16" and 3" versions at its website, as well as a 1.598 inch .999 Silver version. Does anyone know when the Mint first offered the bronze versions ? Thanks.
