Beautiful coins and certainly a worthy challenge!

I am enjoying the progress pictures and looking forward to seeing the finals with the dancing banana!
Enjoy the journey.

1804 PCGS VG10. Pickup from the recent FUN auction, I'm probably not going to crack it but I did figure out a way to keep it in the album which I'll show once I take the other album photos. Couldn't quite get rid of the glare on the reverse photo unfortunately but I wanted the light to show the surface color.

The first year of the brief Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle series, about seven times scarcer than the 1805 according to PCGS survival estimates. Very nice!
When I finally started a 7070 last year I was surprised to find only the single slot for the 1831-38 smaller size bust quarters. Does anybody know if there ever was a Type album made for the early US coins only? Obviously this would be mainly for deep-pocket collectors, but I have had difficulty figuring out a storage/display method for strictly 1790s through 1820's coins. Speaking of type coin sort of arrangement.

I'm not familiar with an official album but I've thought about the same question and here's my best idea:
2 Half Cents
3 large cents
3 Half Dimes
3 dimes
3 quarters
3 half dollars
3 dollars (skip the Gobrecht due to it being a proof)

That's 20 coins. Most of these you'd want to have slabbed, and Dansco makes 4-slot vinyl pages that fit nicely in their generic albums. For those 5 pages, you'd probably need two albums. A 5/8" album could hold two pages (8 coins) which would be the Flowing Hair/Liberty Cap album with 5 coppers and 3 silvers. A 7/8" album could hold 3 pages which would be the draped and capped bust entries that aren't part of the 7070.

Just an idea. TBD if I ever pursue it, or if I have guessed all the album widths correctly.

I put together a Capped Bust/Reduced Size (1831-1838) Quarter set by Browning Number.
That's 36 coins.
Alas I only have 35 of them.

The 1837 B-6 is an R-8 rarity.
I lost my bid on Heritage of the only one I've ever seen.
My bid was $4200.

And my 1836 B-5 (second highest rarity at R-6+) is a DETAILS coin.
And my 1831 B-7 (rarity R-5+) is also a DETAILS coin.
Otherwise all the others are straight grades.

A top shelf accomplishment even with one left, there is to be no doubt. The 1837 and 1833 are challenging dates for anyone attempting a quality original set, die varieties aside. I would be interested to know what grade the '37 B6 was? Assuming it was somewhere mid-grade that bidding shows a very hefty premium for the rare variety!

Yes, this is extremely helpful! That is certainly a good solution.
My dreamer side yearns to figure out a way to minimize the plastic and vinyl in front of such classic coins. I'm harboring an idea for a Dansco-like album for slabbed coins, where the slab is slid in from the side just as in their raw coin albums. All that would show would be the coin, behind the clear holder face of course, and a narrow slide bar above the coin would allow the masking or revealing of the certification information in the slab.
Probably four or six coins per page, depending on the desired album dimensions.
This way when the book is opened only the coins are in view, framed by the nice clean, woody page material. An index of date, grade etc could serve as page one, to allow examination each coin's information as a list.
As slabbing is recommended for $1000+ purchases I think this could be an idea with legs for early type coin display.

1828 25/50C ANACS F12. The PCGS survival estimate is under 100 -- I don't know about that, but it is a nice coin to have and complements the others well. No plans to crack this one since there is just one 1828 hole in the album which will eventually be filled by a normal variety.

Yes you are housing a significant rarity here! Curious if you have checked out the John Reich Collectors Society. I am not affiliated, but thought you might be interested to see what the specialists are saying in relation to coins that are this important.

@Dlangs56, to do that '96 justice, I think you need to post some close-up pics for us to drool on.
