Quote: Beautiful examples Greg. My favorite would be the gold bond # 3595 you show. The vignette is stunning and the border is fantastic. That one also has an interesting corner ornament. Although the frame on this is orange, I this this represents the mythical Green Man.

Not as fancy as the stocks everyone is posting, but I HAD to add SOMETHING to the thread ;-) I actually have some listed on ebay but I don't have enough posts yet to use the SALE section. I have plenty over on the stamp forum, but coins and I have only a fleeting acquaintance at this point. I may go and scan some of the bonds I am keeping in my collection and share them with you all.

I generally don't collect bond coupons unless they are attached to the actual bond. But I do have a printer's proof of a coupon! I thought this was intriguing enough (and cheap enough) that I added it to my collection. It's amazing the detail that's on these tiny engravings.

Since that last post was not really railroad related, I'll get us back on track with a bond that arrived recently. I don't have many that were printed by Continental Bank Note Co., so this was a welcome addition.

Hello, railroad stock cert lovers. Recently I was chatting with my step-dad, who in his working days had his own company that represented manufacturers of railroad parts. I probed a little, and found out that his company did a lot of business with Southern Railway Company. I purchased the below stock certificate and wanted to frame it for him. So I'm looking for any suggestions from you woodworkers out there for frame design/considerations. I am thinking purpleheart wood to go with the stock cert coloring, but don't know if that would go with their decor (think nautical and shaker; so: mahogany, teak, cherry, etc.). I have a couple ideas but would welcome any suggestions. Thanks!
