My second large bronze from the same period, and the heaviest. It has about the nicest Byzantine portrait that I have, but nowhere nearly as nice as your Sicilian Follis @Spence.

That's it till the 590's.

Great contributions @novi! Here is a little Byzantine gold from Constantinople for this decade. This Solidus dates from 616 to 625 AD and is attributed as Sear 738.

More Byzantine gold today. Here is a Solidus, also minted in Constantinople and also with a little graffiti on the rev. It dates to between 603 and 607 AD and I have it attributed as Sear 618.

They obviously took greater care of the high value coins, than they did of the bronzes. These are superb.

Thx guys! The portrait on this AE Follis is a little less clear. The good news; however, is that it was issued between 592 and 593 AD and therefore can move us back a decade. It was minted in Cyzicus and is attributed as Sear 518.

I like these Sasanian coins Paul, and your Hormizd IV is beautifully detailed.

Another from my collection, but a half follis this time.

There are two coins in the collection from the 580's. The first is a follis of Tiberius II Constantine.
