There is no real standard way that sellers list coins on e-bay. Some people will list a coin they know or suspect is a forgery or has a problem. They may allude to this, but please make sure you scroll down and read everything. As others have stated, look carefully at the return policy and seller rep.

eBay may have lots of coins but also, pay pal fees, ebay fees, sometimes lost in mail, wrong coin sent, etc.

There are no ebay or PayPal fees for buyers. Buyers actually get money back from ebay bucks

You can find nearly anything on ebay especially if you give it a few months, but the price-to-grade ratio can often be really bad. Make sure you compare the price to a standard guide before buying.

The ebay coin is not showing much luster for a MS65. The coin does not look orginal and has the appearance of a coin that had an old dip.

There is absolutely no way to conclude that with certainty from that small image.

All I have to go is the photo provided by the seller that does not show any luster. If I am buying a 3K MS65 coin from photo, I would want to see the luster in photo.

For some reason the Trimes have a tendency to tone/tarnish ugly. I am not sure if it is the size, metal used or minting process. I do know that in the 50's,60's and 70's that ugly MS toned coins would not sell, so a lot of them were dipped to remove the ugly toning. I do not know the history of the ebay coin, so with certainty I can not say the coin was dipped or not dipped, but the ebay coin does not have the appearance of a typical original tarnished 165 year old Trime. For my money I would rather have this toned 1851 O AU 58. 112701863530

No argument here. That's a beauty.
