Drumroll...... MS-65+. It sold for $810 on GC. Every time I think I'm going to bid on one of these toned morgans, I chicken out. I just can't wrap my mind around paying that much money for a Morgan dollar no matter how pretty it is. Not when I can buy an elusive and scarce Seated dollar for the same amount.

Mike, $810 was a very strong price for that piece. Although the toning was attractive, the pattern and placement was nothing special.
Finding the right piece for the right price is as elusive and scarce as finding original, attractive Seated Liberty dollars.
When you come across the right piece, you'll know it. There is an 85-0 MS-65 cac in PCGS plastic in this weeks legend premiere auction that should sell for much less than the above coin. It's 100% toned, and would make a beautiful type piece.
FWIW, I'm glad you didn't win the above coin for that kind of money.
