Quote: I'm waiting on the nickel inventory. The rain we are having today has put a damper on mowing down some of my pasture, about 3/4 of an inch so far this morning, so I get to sit and watch old war movies, wash a load or two of clothes, and count coins. I finished the "V"'s and Buffalo's last night, and right now I am in the middle of the wartime silver years. My goal for today is to at least finish counting through 1959.

Nice inventory!
I used to have like 2000 copper cents until I thought it was a waste of space so I dumped them at my bank.

Haven't posted an inventory update in a while, when it hasn't been raining, I have been working on mowing, and/or equipment maint... Spruett001..Here is the nickel inventory you were waiting on. 41 V's - 133 buff's - 2567 Jeff's (341 WTS) But I discovered I am not done.(see below) Also, because of the rain again this weekend, I finished my Dime inventory this morning. 1 barber - 2 mercury - 506 90% silver rosies - 2899 1965 to 2017 rosies. As I was putting the inventoried coins in the safe I started grabbing bags of quarters to start my inventory on those, when, much to my dismay, I found 3 bags of unsorted nickels and 3 bags of unsorted LMC's (1959 to 1982), so that means I still have about 3000 nickels and 3000 LMC yet to inventory. I am dreading the Quarter inventory because there are so many bags to go through, but I want to get those out of the way before I start inventory on anything else that way there are done and out of the way

Started this project in November and have been working on it off and on since then. Once I get this complete, then it will become manageable, to where I will only need to do this once in a while as the quart jar gets full, maybe just a couple of times a year, and I can concentrate on coins needed.

Well, the rain this morning had me changing my plans once again, so I worked on the quarter inventory some more. I have worked my way through 1979 so far, with a goal of at least finishing up through 1989 yet this weekend. Depending on the weather the rest of the weekend, I will try to see if I can finish up to 1998 or atleast get a start on the 1990's. Did find a couple of surprises though, I came across a 1971 S that found it's way into circulation, and the big score so far this weekend was a 1776-1976 S silver proof that also found it's way into circulation. That one went into a flip right away and put into the cash box in the safe.

Been a few weeks (closer to a month to be exact) since I last posted an update on the inventory, I have been taking advantage of the dry weather to get stuff done outdoors, seems like the more stuff I get done, the more I find to do. I have been working on my quarter inventory off and on over the last month, and have finished through 2009. I have the next few days off for a mini staycation and plan on trying to finish the rest of the inventory, or at least through the large silver dollars. Now that I am almost done with the quarters, the rest will be a breeze. I will try and keep you guys posted more often...

You might want to check for some varieties and maybe errors.

Then I will concentrate on looking for errors and varieties, and I will also know what I am missing. It's been a long 8 months of sorting, by denomination, then by decade, then by year, and now by mint mark and counting. Hope to have it completely done before the snow flies. I was going to take a year break from my collection, but that turned into 20+ years , this last year I have been playing catch-up.
