It was too obvious and easy because of the topic title.

I was sure a fellow member HAD to of done what I did earlier.

I spent the time looking and much to my surprise nobody had.

Plenty of crowns, helmets, veils, hoods, scarves, wreaths, head-dresses, visors, etc., and hats.

Yes, I looked up the definition on https://www.merriam-webster.com , but I also noticed that definition was being used quite subjectively and with zero humor.

Not a hint or wink of irony, wit, sarcasm, satire, or repartee to be found.

I subscribed to the topic. Silence.

Was my pic too obtuse? Am I a simpleton and the silence civility? Maybe.

jbuck's reply made me laugh out loud till my face hurt. There's nothing subjective about that and it felt great!

Oops.. I forgot to include that bit of info.

NIUE, 5 Dollars, 1989, KM# 22
General Douglas MacArthur
38.5 mm, 28.527 g, Reeded
Copper-Nickel, Commemorative
Ruler: Elizabeth II

Niue is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. It's known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. Migrating whales swim in Niue's waters between July and October. In the southeast is the Huvalu Forest Conservation Area, where trails through fossilized coral forests lead to the Togo and Vaikona chasms. The northwest is home to the rock pools of Avaiki Cave and the naturally formed Talava Arches.

Capital: Alofi
Currency: New Zealand dollar
Population: 1,624 (2016)

Slightly out of focus pic of the reverse:

1c5d7n5m those are amazing!!

Not only do you have exceptionally good taste but fortune is fond of you as well.

The following is well worth the read:

MATTHEW BOULTON'S FRENCH VENTURES OF 1791 AND 1792;
TOKENS FOR THE MONNERON FRERES OF PARIS AND ISLE DE FRANCE
- RICHARD MARGOLIS

https://www.britnumsoc.org/publicat...NJ_58_11.pdf

Per chance you have one (or three) like this laying about as well?

Post-Your-Coins-With-Hats

1792 Monneron (Hercules) 1 and 5 Sols

The symbology describes the resolve of the French people, represented by a fasces, or bundle of rods lashed together. Even Hercules cannot break their strong resolve.

Hercules hated hats. His hair was perfect.

The study by Richard Margolis is a great paper - thanks, yellow88

the effort of the Monneron-Boulton enterprise (a private initiative) was amazing

the sheer amount of copper:

Quote:
For more than a year, from the beginning of August 1791 until the end of August 1792, the Soho Mint was chiefly occupied with the production of some 183 tons of tokens of varying types and denominations (as well as medals) for the Monnerons.3

and the technical problems that needed to be overcome to strike 28-30 gram copper coins (much harder material than silver or gold) were not trivial

Quote:
Boulton's letter of 30 January 1792: 'The last week has been chiefly taken up in repairing little accidents, which were as unforeseen as they were provoking. Chains breaking - air pump arms & pulleys heating & flying to pieces - in short almost every trifling though hindering accident has happened that might have been expected of an entire new machine. The force is so great. . . that the parts have failed partly from that cause - and again others from causes not to be discovered'.

(both quotes are from the Margolis paper)

Type Hercules: you show a much rarer type than the common type from above
