Quote: IMHO the folks who buy these coins won't really care about getting .12 ozt more Ag and the increase is probably not enough to incentivize someone new to jump in and buy the set. Exactly. If someone is that concerned about the value of the silver they're purchasing, they're likely not going to purchase something that's so overpriced relative to the market price of silver.

There's also the cost of doing business... it's not just the cost of raw materials that comes into play. Salaries, utilities, taxes, fees... all of those get passed on to the customer.
Though I'm not sure how many more times they can raise the price $5 annually and still get people to buy.

Only if the declining sales are NOT due to declining or lack of interest They're government with a monopoly on products. ALL of their sales declines are due to a declining/lack of interest

Sorry...I was on another wavelength...I thought you were referring to increasing value at a later date resulting in a profit (higher RESALE prices) for the seller
Totally off what was being discussed..increasing Mint selling prices....duh

I think most of us would agree if they lowered the premiums on some items their sales would increase. Also that it would be good for the product line as a whole to not lose value consistently like the Canadian ones have.

Yep, good catch. No product photos or substantial details past March 7th (AGE's) yet tho.

Anyone buying the Explore and Discover Coin Set tomorrow? I was considering buy one each for my boys but I'm not sure if I want to spend 40 bucks. 20 dollars for about 2 bucks worth of coins and a magnifying glass seems a bit much.

I wonder if it'll be as popular as the rocket ship due to the 50k product limit?

One question regarding the Explore and Discover Coin Set, In the specification on the back of the package for the planchet it says the diameter is .738 inch while the cent is .750 inch. Does this mean the width increases from the pressing of the coin, or is this a non-standard cent planchet?

Anyone see this on today's US Mint facebook page? I probably won't be able to see what this is about since I will be on the road for work, hope it's good though.
