Like this one. Looks AU-58. Any luster? I see some red in the protected areas.

The results are in. PCGS graded the coin at AU58 BN. Still a good find, was hoping higher, but a nice coin to have.
Thanks to all for the input.

That was fast, and I can relate to the disappointment. But AU-58BN is still a monster coin. And you have confirmation that it is legit. Thanks for the follow up.

Beautiful coin. I'm not seeing why it got the AU designation, as it looks very high MS, minus the nick (if that is a nick) on the reverse top.

I was only 8 points off on this one. Years of practice are starting to pay off.

the only thing I can think of is a tiny rub on the cheekbone and beard on the jaw line other than that I don't see anything that would hold this to AU. oh well, still a stellar coin.

Stunning! Can I ask what you used for a light source in staging this coin. It is just so well done!

Sorry. Late to the party on my last post. AU58? Now I'm scared to submit my 1909 s VDB that folks gave me feedback on a few weeks back. Yikes.

Figures, NGC and PCGS have done that to me - MS coin comes back AU-58, it happens. Still, it's a killer coin!

How is the coin an AU class coin? I see the small place on the cheek but she is spotless. I would consider sending it to NGC just to be sure. Make sure you tell them to leave it alone if it doesn't grade higher but I don't see how that coin went AU from those pictures. I've got slabbed 64s I would trade out for in a heartbeat. With that kind of money on the line what's another $30 bucks? Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it. You have an absolute gem in my eyes.

I agree- break the coin out and send it to the opposite grading company and spend the $30 or so and see if you can do better. You have very little to lose. If it comes back an MS62 or better, you made your certified fee back and then some.

Quote: How is the coin an AU class coin? Pictures are only an approximation, nothing more. We can't rotate and look under directly light to check the luster. It's all about the luster when it's close.
