More alchemy! Or turning stuff into coins. During the summer one of the neighbors decided they were going to sell their house and move full time to their other house in the Pocono mountains. They had several garage sales and after each they put out a lot of new stuff. I picked up and sold some of their stuff (and used to get coins), but they also threw out 2 stained glass lamps. I was walking the dog by their house and they offered me the lamps as the switch was broken. The lamps looked good, so I took them home. I recently decided to try and fix them, well it cost under $4 to get 2 new switches. After cleaning them up, I did some research, each lamp is pretty expensive. They are made in America and the glass shade is hand made. I put them up in my home office and really liked them. Since I replaced the office lamps with 2 nicer lamps, I put up the old office lamps for sale. I used facebook marketplace and within a few hours got 2 I'll take it. I lysoled each lamp, put them in a bag and the first "I'll take it" passed by and picked them up. Since everything is closed, the buyer had no place to buy a lamp and needed replacements. With the money I picked up a few more IHC. This took a little more work, but in a few ways it worked out really well. 1) I replaced nice lamps with even nicer lamps that some one was going to throw out 2) I sold off the nice lamps I had 3) With the money I picked up 2 IHCSo I changed a base metal (office lamps) into another base metal ( IHC) and a replacement base metal (stained glass lamp) that I wanted. Somehow the laws of thermodynamics worked in my favor as I got more out than I put in

Local car washes are my honey hole. Find so much change....and sometimes (as gross as this is) you get lucky and find it IN the vacuum cleaners.
Found silver, gold earrings, 10k white gold wedding band, 64 silver quarter last week, dollar coins, and tons of change.

I made my brother go on a 7 mile walk with me throughout the town this Saturday and I ended up finding 48 cents. I only took the picture with 32 cents, but I found another 16 cents after this. Today I found 18 cents, but the 5 cents are a 1924 KGVI 5 cents, sadly its pretty beat up. But still oldest coin I found on the road.

Worst part is that someone drove over it otherwise it would have been a better find.

i found these two coins a couple nights ago. not unusual to find those bahamas cents in change or on the ground here, but I picked that one off the pavement somewhere. nasty staining on the top edge of each side. dominican republic, one centavo, 1955. I had never seen that coin before and the amount of damage on it wasn't helping! this poor coin.. worn from circulation, hole drilled/punched in the top of the obverse, and slightly bent, the road rash on the reverse speaks well to that, note the heaviest road rash around the top & bottom third of the coin, the rims & the devices closest to the rims. the obverse is bowed outward because of the bend. you can see the hole at the bottom of the reverse is road rashed, as well. heavy crud on the coin, too, but the date is very legible, despite it not showing up well in the pic.. bent coin, lol, hard to get a good pic of this critter.. I found one on ebay, tho.. this is what a nice undamaged one looks like:

Went to my local McDonald's a couple of weeks back. Since I couldn't eat inside, I pulled over to an empty part of the parking lot to eat my McMuffin. I looked over the hood of my car and saw something the unmistakable color of a new $10 bill. Thinking it was a ruse to make me pick up some sort of advertising, I instantly fell for the trap and got out. It was a sure-nuff real ten-spot. So, I looked around to see if there was any more and I saw 2 more tens and 3 hundreds laying next to the curb in front of my car.
No one was anywhere in the vicinity. So, I called inside the restaurant and told the manager what I'd found. I said if anyone calls in asking about lost money, get their name / number and I would contact them. After checking in for 4-5 days, the manager thanked me for my honesty and said "enjoy the money!"
