While in New Orleans this past weekend, I scored $20! First big bill in about five years. In short order it was converted into an order of beignets and 2 cafe au laits at Cafe du Monde in City Park.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
tonight I picked ninety-seven cents in well-scattered change, plus I found a 2016 colombian 100 peso coin in the publix parking lot, the first interesting coin find of 2025:
for the 8th (and final) night in december 2024-- new year's eve-- I managed to find $1+, picking $1.20- four quarters and two dimes. (no zincolns! a rarity!) I located just four of the usual ten kitties, probably because of the fireworks at midnight & after (but I found all of them tonight)....
(and I had hot dog duty that night.... there was a bit of extra work in the set-up and take-down, plus the night was a bit longer because of the street party, so I made $100 (instead of the usual $50), plus I got what was left on the grill at the end of the night: over 2 dozen hot dogs & a couple foot-long sausages & two 12-packs of buns, plus dana gave me a big sack of peanut butter cookies and some gingerbread things that looked more like moon-pies. I split all of that food 50/50 with my neighbor. the 2024 holiday season was a vast improvement over the 2023 holiday season, for many reasons; I am grateful. )
