for the first time in nearly two weeks I picked $1+, scoring $1.24 tonight, including a pair of quarters from a water machine coin return: additionally, I picked two quarters and four zincolns from the sidewalk near the water machine. I scored my dollar-plus at one stop. i also picked a dime and two nickels from a coin star reject tray, and several coins from various other parts of the world, which I will post over in the Coinstar Finds thread eventually. i scored all of tonight's grab from just two places.

My house was built in the 1930's, and I bought it in 2009. I'm an intense gardener, and have finally reached the point where there is no grass to mow in my yard (there is a 4' section of the neutral ground where I put my dumpster to be emptied, but that's it. In all of these years, I have found exactly ONE non-zincoln or LMC coin: a 1965 nickel, which was returned to circulation within days. That changed today, as I was digging up some umbrella palm / papyrus and canna lilies to make room for some peppers. This little beauty plopped down on top of a pile of dirt and I could tell right away it was silver! Dirt was not really sticking to it. Gave it a quick rinse with the hose for these pics, and now it's in my "found silver dimes" tube. US 10 Cents 1946 - yard find
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Great find Hondo! Nothing quite so exciting for me, but when I parked at the supermarket yesterday and opened my car door, this was staring at me from the surface of the parking lot: A shiny 2014 penny. It can't have been there long - I reckon I rescued it from becoming a victim of severe road rash!

quality save, NumisRob. good eye! last night I scavenged exactly $1.00, 12 coins on 11 stops. it's only the 2nd time this month of finding at least $1, ten days since the last one... which was the first one... the night before last I picked only ninety-one cents, ninety of that came from a water machine coin return: i have two milestones coming up: the $5K milestone is coming and the 2 pounds of silver milestone is coming. both could be achieved this year. I want to hit both of them. after that- after both milestones are achieved- I'm going to shift to using the street money to add food-producing plants to my garden.
