there will be more. what's really ironic about this is the timing of it plus the cat connection. (you knew that was coming, right?)

the hotel that I work for is right beside a
Walgreens. there's a short zigzag sidewalk that connects the two properties. we sort of take care of that sidewalk area despite the fact that most of that sidewalk is on
Walgreens' property. the assistant general (micro)manager is obsessed with little projects that are more or less irrelevant to the hotel property's overall look. the hotel property had been mismanaged for years under the prior management, so it doesn't look all that great overall, this sidewalk area being just one of many little eyesores about it. anyway, the assistant (micro)manager was in a bit of a tizzy this week due to an upcoming visit from corporate VIPs on wednesday, so on monday she texted the groundscrew (myself and another guy) telling us that we needed to tidy up that area and pressure wash that sidewalk. so right after lunch I embarked on setting up everything so that we could do that. as I was setting up, I discovered this tidy pile of coins that someone left on the curb at the sidewalk area, pictured above. fifty-eight cents. nice. pocketed.
later that evening I was in the southernmost mancave talking to my neighbor. I told him about that coin find and I was carrying on about how I was likely going to be finding money at the hotel sooner or later. I explained that I had picked several single dimes, a quarter and a few zincolns the past several days and so it was just a matter of time before bigger money showed up.

within the first few days of my being part of the hotel groundscrew I discovered this kitty (pictured above) hanging around the very back of the property on the porches of the hotel's waterfront units, so of course I began bringing her some food each morning when I start my shift just before 7am. I sit with her for a minute or two and talk to her as she begins devouring the eats (she gets half a can of wet food, a 2 Tbsp scoop of kibble and a pinch of catnip), and then I leave. I knew she had been living back there somewhere, but I didn't know exactly where, although I presumed she was living under the building somewhere. so yesterday afternoon while I had a bit of free time I went looking around for a potential exit/entry point for her potential hideout. that's what led me around to that side of the building where I found the twenty.
isn't it funny how kitties lead me to finding lost money?
as paul harvey used to say: now you know the rest of the story.
