i recently secured a handful of small paint jobs several blocks from where I live.

i modified my nightly search route by omitting the 3 large shopping center parking lots and just catching all the smaller (quicker to search) areas along the way.. lately those big parking lots haven't been producing much and have largely been a waste of time, so the past few nights I've excised them from the route. I've been finishing & getting to bed an hour sooner because of it, which helps with time I can spend on those jobs.

the reward for the modification was almost immediate; how about more free dollar coins?

the ice machine that I mentioned a few days ago produced three dollar coins for me last night:

washington, grant & susan b., all for me, all for free.

$3.94 on the night.

why are your hands so pink?

two reasons:

-emotional response to finding three dollar coins, suddenly the extremities were flush with good red blood (indicating strong & healthy heart, lungs & circulatory system. ),

and

-as you already correctly deduced, we here at First Pink Savings live up to our name.

I know I haven't posted on here in a while (bogged down by classes...at least it's the home stretch now) but I also found three dollar coins at a machine the last time I went grocery shopping!

Notable finds of the month include a 1936 Wheat cent and my first silver quarter...pics incoming as soon as I copy them from my cellphone onto my computer!

i wasn't expecting to find much tonight as the last two nights yielded a mere fourteen cents (plus a canadian quarter), and a quick, wind-driven light rain slicked the pavements as I walked up to the gate onto the property where my bike is locked up, two blocks from where I live. I delayed my ride by about 15 minutes, which gave the fast-moving burst of precip time to move on and gave me time to sit on the covered front porch & study the local weather radar on my iphone.

the first two cats were found & fed within the first half-hour of my ride, and I had continued on to the searstown publix and searched it's parking lot entirely, as well, finding nothing. as I left that parking lot I curled around to examine one last row of parking in front of the Subway near the theater. as I began doing that I also noticed clouds moving in that looked like more rain clouds, so as I came to the end of that row of parking spaces my intention was to stop, park my bike for a minute and have another look at the weather radar on my iphone. as I rolled up to the curb I saw it:

coin spill! there were many more coins than what can be easily seen in the picture. I put on my glasses & utilized my iphone flashlight function to pick $3.20 in change that someone chucked into the stones. as I began pickin' it started sprinkling, which quickly turned into another short-lived, fast-moving, wind-driven light rain again, so I got slightly dampened, but it was worth it:

after that I decided to skip the other bigger parking lots and head for the last cats, feed them and then just head for home. I found a total of $3.72 tonight. I had to check my pictures to be sure, but it seemed to me my last decent coin spill was discovered about a year ago. I was right; picture confirmed, may 7, 2023, coin spill in front of a soda machine. tonight's pickins boosted the cycle's running total to just over $170 and boosted april's total to just over $30. that one big score made my night.

in that handful of change were only 2 coins of interest, both quarters: a nebraska homestead & a samoa bats.. alas, no DDR on the homestead quarter and no W on the bats quarter. booooooo..

interestingly-- or, maybe this comment belongs in the 'shake your head moment' thread... I misspelled 'homestead' at first-- as I was typing the above paragraph, I typed 'honestead', and the word was underlined with the red dashed line, so I touched it.. guess what the spell check showed me as an alternative to 'honestead'...

'honest wad'
