This one is a bit of a maverick. The Free Gardeners were very much co-existant with the first masonic lodges in Scotland. As they mostly did not live in towns, being dependant on work on the large country estates, they were unable to "incorporate" as a Guild, that being the prerogative of burgesses, or town dwellers. So, sometime in C18th Scotland an association of Free Gardeners was formed with healthy support from some local Masonic lodges. The end result was the usual situation at the time, fraternity supplanted craft and the lodges became open to all. Free Gardeners still exist in Australia and South Africa, (The warrant for Grand Lodge was moved to CapeTown in 1956, I think) This fob has another puzzle to be solved. N. U. O. Free Gardeners? N.U.O.? I always took to be National Union Of Suggestions please:

It looks like some folks are stamping Lincoln wheat cents with masonic symbols and putting them up on ebay. There's sure a bunch of them there now. I'm waiting to see a complete Lincoln set stamped as such ....

Yes ExoGuy. I've seen that. They stamp old coins with a new stamp. Personally I'm not a fan.
I enjoy the older coins with older Masonic stamps.
....or a contemporary coin with a new stamp.
