So how much do you have to pay them per hour?

@moxx, I get paid $10 per hour, but I have to double end my FICA because I'm an independent contractor. However, I get free lunches so that's nice.

@Wheatback, Bonanza Coins on Wayne Avenue, about 2.5 blocks from the Metro. If you are at Wayne and Georgia head towards fenton and it's right there. (940 Wayne Avenue)

Congratulations on getting the job! That must be so much fun! Enjoy it!

And don't spend too much money on coins!

@E&V it is! No promises on the second part I've been eyeing the VF Details Plugged 1807 Bust dime for my type set. The plug is almost invisable, and for a 1.8k discount due to the details grade, I am strongly considering it.

GrapeCollects, if you have enough money, I would buy that VF Details Plugged 1807 Bust Dime! You'll get it for very cheap. Go for it man!

Don't worry, I'll occasionally spend too much money on coins too!

Has working at a LCS changed your views on collecting? Do you find yourself collecting different series than you would otherwise or collecting less as a whole?

Hmm... not really. It just opened new opportunities. I've been building my type set and working there allows me to have a vast quantity to select from. Also, from a variaties standpoint it's massive bonus. I have full authority to cherrypick to my hearts content, the catch being if I find a variaty I want he charges 20% of the variaties premium. So if the coin is normaly $1, and with the variaty is $10, I pay $3. That way he gets a return and I get the variaty at a large discount. Though recently I have considered getting into capped bust halves. I love the design, and they are very cheap in VF or below which is appealing to me.

GC...don't forget on the FICA you can deduct half of that from your taxes...so in essence you are paying just your portion. Don't forget to withold for your fed, state and local taxes. As an independent contractor, check with your state sales tax division, you might be responsible for sales taxes on your services. My son got burnt that way.

Any nice/interesting foreign coins in the shop.

Thanks for the advice! I don't have to do sales taxes for my services, and am currently putting 1/3 of each check in a tax savings account.
