A large lot of miscellaneous tokens and medals arrived this weekend, and in it was this beat-up holed medal commemorating the Byrd Expedition and first flight over the South Pole. The plane is a Ford Trimotor called the Floyd Bennett, named after the recently deceased pilot of Byrd's previous expeditions.  Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
