The mint seriously has to put sports stuff on coins now? I'm collecting coins not Sports trading cards...

Hey All, I am giving up on Dansco. This current 10 page post started in 2019 proves the company is not capable of meeting customer demand. The excuses are just that - excuses. There are other posts in the community that question Dansco going back further. It has literally been years since there has been any reasonable supply of Dansco albums. While I have quite a collection of Dansco albums I do not see any benefit to remain a Dansco customer. Along with page updates, there are many new US Mint products that I would like to have albums for. Sure, the Dansco site is listing new albums later this year - https://www.danscousa.com/?page_id=91. It also listed pages released in December 2021 that cannot be found. I only see Notify Me. I'm done with Notify Me. I have better luck getting US Mint products in the first 10 minutes of release than getting any Dansco product.

Yep, I'm agreeing with you. Dansco for now is a limited edition item.

There maybe demand from collectors for Dansco, but not large enough volume to mass produce, and production expense is high for archival materials.
I work with print and finishing house and I can see the cost associate with making these albums, if there was a way to make it popular, and production cost low, we will be discussing some other matter, like at least PCGS has digital album free.

The pandemic also hit them pretty hard since they were in the middle of a move at the same time. I've spoken on the phone with one of the owners and it is a tiny TINY operation and the pandemic made their employment numbers even smaller
I can fully understand the frustration and moving to new options. I think we're looking at another year or two before dansco is at a reasonable production capacity again and that's assuming the pandemic improves

Perhaps the leadership of the coin community forum--those rascals with the means ($$$)--could make an offer to Dansco owners and buy out the operation. Leave Dansco offices in the Pacific Northwest, but infuse some capital--grow the operation. All for the love of numismatics!

Quote: Several times in the past I have proposed for Whitman to license the Dansco name. Whitman will handle the marketing and design stuff (like new albums and pages) while they contract Dansco (actual) to do the manufacturing. While I like the look of Whitman Albums, their quality has not been great for the Albums I own. I would rather have Littleton manage the Marketing and Design stuff rather than Whitman.

Quote: While I like the look of Whitman Albums, their quality has not been great for the Albums I own Exactly, which is why Dansco would still make the albums. Dansco is bad at the updates, new albums, etc. Let Whitman do all that for them. Choose how to layout the new series or update pages, send the specs to Dansco and let them do the work. I have always had the impression that Dansco is slow to update their stuff because they do not want to take the time to do the research necessary to get something the people want. Quote: I would rather have Littleton manage the Marketing and Design stuff rather than Whitman. Perhaps a bidding war then. "Comcast" Littleton and "Disney" Whitman going after "20th Century Fox" Dansco.

If there wasn't enough bad news, this was recently published (the date has 2020, but its actually 2021)
"November 15, 2021 UPDATE- Our town of Sumas Washington has been devastated by a flood. We are working to go through all of our lost material, product etc. The cleanup is also going to take some time. It will easily be a couple of months before we begin to ship anything out. There are many in our town who are suffering from incredible losses in their homes as well. Please keep us in your prayers as we work through this very difficult situation. Check back with us in a couple of months. Thank you for understanding."
