Weirdly, I don't see their jobs posted on the big boards. The town population is around 1500. The county is 230K, heavily influenced by Bellingham (92K).

Quote: Unlike Whitman. Does Whitman do some manufacturing here? There's a manufacturing (I think) facility here in Alabama.

For their books, maybe, but as far as I know the blue albums are now made overseas. Just carl, the indisputable Whitman Album Champion, would know for sure. Meanwhile, my Dansco album wish list gets longer.

I use Whitman cause I think it causes no coin damage and it fits my budget better at least until Dansco gets the "full work force" and kicks back the demand and their products get cheaper.

Bought some blank Dansco albums the other day and they were all stamped on the inside with the new Dansco Washington address. So it looks like they are starting to produce items at their new facility. Slowly but surely.

Recently placed an order direct from Dansco Here's an update that they sent along with the package (it pretty much says what they've all said so far, but it's even more recent)

I remember the Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS) mentioned that Whitman is making all their books overseas in China now as well. Printing is much cheaper though things may change with shipping costs climbing again. In other industries I am involved with I know that the cost of a shipping container has gone up in some cases 5 times from the cost in 2019. China base pricing on volume not so much on weight, at least that used to be the case in shipping overseas containers. Whitman has been printing in China and Canada for a while now. Covid-19 changed the entire world in many ways we don't even know about yet. I expect to see printed material keep rising in cost. At least until manufacturing ramps back up here in the United States in certain industries.
I too am glad to see Dansco continue on here in America. I hope they can continue to be a successful company in the future.
Also the past 5 book purchases I've made (published by various groups from 2010 through 2020) have all been printed outside of the USA - none of them have been very cheap either ($100 or more per book). The ANS "Silver Coins of Massachusetts" was printed in China (I just checked inside on the publishing page notes), it's the large book I reviewed here a week ago or so.

@westcoin,
I did a review of Whitman, Dansco and Littleton albums and all work but I no longer recommend Whitman's as the blue covering on the pages is coming apart. And not just on 1, it's coming apart on all albums. Littleton for its minor issue are in better shape as are the Dansco s. So I for 1 will avoid Whitman albums as the quality is just not there.

@JBuck,
I love the blue pages, but I am not impressed with the quality. I'm going to skip whitman folders/albums for the time being.

I never really liked the Whitman albums. I did like the original one sided folders as a kid for the cents though, they started millions down the collecting rabbit hole in the 50's through the 80's. My favorite albums are still the old Harco albums, yes, the ones that destroyed my Indian Head cent collection and ruined my Unc Lincoln set through the PVC, the album designs were so neat even today, I wish someone would redo them using archival safe materials again. I have a few Dansco albums and like them a little better then the Littleton ones, have never tried the Lighthouse or other popular Euoropean ones.
