Now back to the 1700s, I love when we hit this era, more original and handmade looking coins and beautiful and historic designs. Here I am geared up to show my gVF Cartwheel Halfpence and Pepa shows us an even more stunning one I still think mine is pretty good too!   1799 Cartwheel Halfpence - Soho Mint, Boulton and Watt gVF This was a second issue of "Cartwheel coins" consisting of Halfpence and Farthings, being the first issue of copper Halfpence since 1777, these coins were better executed than the 1797 Pennies and Tuppence, as the rim was higher to protect the design from wear (Although most come across as worn). The design is nice and the coin well ahead of its time, the perfectly round piece made by steam engines is more reminescent of the century coming rather than the one past. My coin was sold to me by an antique dealer, who had a friend who was an old army man who had collected it back in the 1960s (He also provided me with the EF 1901 Penny and 1906 Half Sovereign). It has a little stain near the 7 as well. I expect we will see a lot of these in 1799.  |

Here is a Pfennig from the German State of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel dated 1799.   Added: @arkie, catch up on a few days worth or else start with today--your choice I think. "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."
