Imagine having a pair of matching serial numbers and showing them to a civilian (non collector) and telling them that they're error notes. They'd probably scrutinize them for a minute and ask, "Where's the error ?"
You'd say, "They have the same serial number." They'd reply, "I've seen notes with the same serial number before and they weren't errors." You'd say, "But these are the same series. That's not supposed to happen." They'd say, "Sounds like a clerical error to me."
And they'd be right

@penniless... I saw that match of yours going through the entire thread yesterday. Belated congrats! I was logging all serials mentioned here into a db I check against when scouring ebay. Would love to get that Z/W file at some point to check against as well. I have actually picked up two more match notes for $20 or so because folks don't have a db file to check against anymore. Don't know what they have. Darned if I'll submit anything else to the current project, though. Too much like baseball card flipper frenzy. Glad to hear I'm not alone in not feeling the love over there. I'm playing the long game now, prospecting banks for notes in the wild and ebay for match bills while waiting out the fever hype. @SteveInTampa ... LOL! Yeah, pretty much. But "A clerical error in your favor" does get you $20 in Monopoly nonetheless ;-) IINM 1995 series also had reprints that duplicated previous serials of the same bank, and then two of them (B & F). B even had *three* goof reprints. Pre-internet (ish) so no hype, and good luck finding any now given age and small (320K & 640K) runs.(I have yet to see even one note on ebay from those runs) But IMO: a match with those today would be well worth the hype.

No Mpolo, not mine. I've sold my entire collection of Coins and Currency. I'm no longer in the game. Dealing with other life's issues right now, but I must admit, I miss it, and everyone here.
Best wishes to you all!!

Thanks for all of those who have submitted their serial numbers to Project 2013B. The last time I mentioned the number of serial numbers in the database was in February 2023 when it stood at 31,000. There are now over 69,000 unique serial numbers as of January 2025. It has been a busy month for confirmed matches! https://project2013b.blogspot.com/easy to remember address to add yours to the list where it will get check daily for a match: add.2013b.com

And they'd be right Both PMG and PCGS disagree, and call them a production error. No different than a blank copper planchet being stamped at the mint with Jefferson nickle dies.

Hello all, sorry it's been so long, Ive truly missed you all. For those who knew, my wife was diagnosed stage 4 incurable cancer some time ago. She is still fighting like a champ!!! 3 months ago I had the big one, the "widowmaker" heart attack, died on the table at the hospital, but by the grace of God was shocked back to life, have had Stents installed, and am trying to work myself back into shape. I'm sorry MPOLO to not have good news for you on your past match, from my previous answer. I did not have my notes listed on "PastExpiry" website, as a personal decision. The new owner of my collection also chose not to list my collection, or his/her's on "PastExpiry" website for personal reasons. I think your all figuring that one out. It's been quite awhile mpolo so could you please remind me of the serial number you say you have a match for, I do have a copy of the old ZW list and will look to see if there's anything I can do to help you. It's a long shot, been so long, so many have sold notes they once had, but if I can help I will, as well as I will ask the owner of my old collection if he/she has or know's of your note's match. Sorry for the ramble, my mind is not what it used to be. I'm trying. God bless you all!!

@penniless I must address the multiple inaccuracies and speculative claims in your statements. To clarify: I have never offered to sell information to anyone, and any claim to the contrary is unfounded. My role in continuing the Zegers/Winograd project began when, after its founder stepped down and not one of the 1,000+ members volunteered, I assumed responsibility to preserve and modernize the database, gave it a website, a newsletter and eventually its own domain 2013b.com. Since then, it has grown from 10,000 to over 83,000 serial numbers on record. I have facilitated matches for the co-owners of more than 200 pairs; several of these have later sold at auction for a combined total exceeding $200,000. My geographical location does not preclude me from being a legitimate collector of U.S. currency, nor does it hinder my ability to operate the matching service, which functions via email (also phone text) and is offered free of charge. Any suggestion that I charge a subscription fee for database access for profit is incorrect. The reasons for moving the database to a private format are documented and numerous, including a shady individual that created his own copycat website. Full details here: https://www.2013b.com/p/2013bdatabase.htmlFurthermore, the project's success and significance have been recognized by major publications including Fox News, The New York Post, and Coin World. This coverage has not only brought widespread attention to this specific banknote error—which many longtime collectors were unaware of—but has also attracted many new enthusiasts to the hobby itself.Let's be clear: the field of numismatics is intrinsically linked to financial value; if it were not, we would be curating seashells, not currency. However, conflating an appreciation for that intrinsic value with profiteering from a free service is a fundamental mischaracterization of my work. This service has always been provided without cost to users. Any revenue generated is derived from advertising on the website. I find it remarkable that a service I provide freely, investing no less than twenty hours per week to maintain, would attract both lies, speculation and criticism for such a modest means of supporting its operation. The irony of the username 'Penniless' critiquing a free service's advertising is not lost on me.

Thanks SnoopyDoo, I've actually gotten an "interested in selling" response since, but now been over a year of me replying "Still interested?" with only an occasional "Been busy, will respond soon". Hanging on to that note in hopes, but have managed to put together five pairs at this point, so not as hot to make that sale. This site won't let me PM you (I'm too new), but maybe you can PM me and we can discuss more freely, esp. re: the old Z/W db. Quote: Sorry for the ramble, my mind is not what it used to be. I'm trying. I don't know you, but am glad to see you post again. I'm sorry I didn't see it for an entire year! Sorry to hear of your brush against the western guardrail of life, but glad you stayed on the pavement! Feeling the age over here as well, FWIW.

Hi everyone, I've recently started a challenge to complete a District Set for the serial number 00001066 on $20 bills. I currently hold the AK (Dallas) and AL (San Francisco) notes.
I am looking for the other 10 districts (A through J) with the same serial number. If you have one in your collection or happen to find one, please contact me. I am interested in buying or trading to complete the set.
Thanks in advance for your help!
