There were 2 types of 1920 British Threepence.

Post-Your-Coins-From-1920!
The Sterling silver one. In 1920 all the silver coins were debased to 50% except about 1/3 of the Threepences. These coins have a yellowish colour when worn and stronger detail, sharper E's. They are not rare and dealers often don't bother distinguishing. I am 90% sure this coin above is one.

1920 "Standard" Threepence

This is a 50% silver one, notice the gungy grey green wear. This is typical of 1920 to early 1922 coins which were 50% silver, 40% Copper and 10% nickel as a whitener. The nickel stuck to the top of the coin and wore off fast revealing the greyish green mess underneath. Some of these coins were very crudely made and even old shells from WW1 were melted down in the copper mix.

Back in 2020 I mentioned showing an 1820 coin for this thread, now I can go one better and show a 1720! coin for it!

That is right, a 1720 shilling showing not King George V in 1920 or King George IV in 1820, but King George I in 1720. The roses and plumes tell us this is western silver from the seacoale and pitcoale company (Sic - medieval witchie poo spelling).

For those wanting a 1620 coin, unlikely to happen as things were dated by mintmarks in the UK back then.

Back to the year at hand - 1920

Some Australian coins of 1920

Post-Your-Coins-From-1920!
A shilling and threepence. Unlike the UK, Australia did not debase their coins in 1920 and kept the sterling standard right through to 1945. As a result most 1920 silver of Australia is extremely worn and high grade examples are expensive.

Shillings are scarce and no Florins were minted, but the other coins are common in low grades.

Post-Your-Coins-From-1920!
A 1920 Penny - common variety - 2 varieties with dot combinations are very rare.

Post-Your-Coins-From-1920!
The Heads side - Australian coins used a Crowned Portrait of
his majesty and this was similar to colonial coins of Canada, India and Newfoundland. South Africa also used the portrait when they started coin issues in 1923.
