Here's some pics of the nickel. Not a beauty but stil exciting to find. Was the lsst one I dated in that particular batch. I brought more home today and a few have mintmarks. Think I may save those for last.

I found a 1913-S T2 last night and I'd be a whole lot more excited about it if there wasn't a circular gash through the 13, probably from one of those counting machines. Still, it's pretty cool.

SWEET FIND! I'd find a way to get over the gash.

The only part of the 13-S T2 that I've restored is the date. I'll put up photos of it when I've got the whole coin finished.

My best find so far is a 1921-S. 13-S Ty.2 is pretty sweet!

Here are my photos of the 1913-S T2. I got rid of most of that circular gash, but at the expense of the strength and quality of the date:

Did you use vinegar? Looks like it worked pretty good. Again, nice!

Vermont: Thanks. I used that vial of "magic buffalo juice" that I got from BuffaloReincarnations on ebay. I suspect that it's a lot like Nic-A-Date, only much more potent.

Do you soak the coin and for how long? What did the bottle cost? Can you use it indoors? I'll have to get me some.

Vermont - I cleaned the nickel up a little first, just removed the grime and oils with some jewelry cleaner, but after that, it only took a 30 second dip into this solution of his and it was done! He sent me the vial of solution at no cost. He told me that as long as I didn't mistake it for Visine or cough syrup it was harmless! No odor that I can detect. Got a little on my fingers and it washed off easy enough. No skin problems. I swear that it's just high potency Nic-a-date.

Is it a 1913-D Type II? Well, whqt do you think? The boss bought a Buffalo book today and this was in the 13-D Type II slot. We couldn't tell so he told me to take it home and work on it. Here's my progress so far. Hmmm... bad case of wishful thinking on the original owner's part I'm afraid cuz it sure likes like a 1916 to me. Now my boss has been at this a long time so I'm sure he doesn't have that much invested in the set. The 23-S, 26-S and 31-S were all decent. The 21-S was a 21 plain. He checked before buying it. So tomorrow I'll bring the "13-D" to work and we'll laugh about it. Hey, can't win em all can you?
