And as you can probably guess, I really like $2 bills.
Both of these are replacements for ones not in CU.

I also picked up my first "funny back" $1 silver certificate. I put together a pretty extensive list of notes that I want to acquire over the next few months.

So how did I do as a beginner?

My wife asked me what I wanted for father's day and I said I would like a note or 2, she asked me to put together a list..... wooohooooo..

I did and gave it to her, lets see what I get. Only a month to wait. I hope I remember what I put on the list otherwise I may buy it ;)

It's good to see the excitement of a collector with their new acquisitions. Looking back, if I could go back in time and start building my collection all over again, I'd probably focus more on large size US notes. Congratulations on your new additions.

A friend of mine asked me if I wouldn't mind asking the local coin shop if he had a few notes. Yesterday I made a pilgrimage to look for the notes in "junk pile", the owner told me that anything I find the prices would be really good. He let me look through over a 1000 bills. A stack almost 12' high. Hundreds upon hundreds of 1957 SC. While looking I found few "different" ones, so I put a few on the side for me. Mind you this was the $1-$2 junk pile and it had $100, $50 and all odds and ends. At the end I asked how much, not expecting a good price and I would put them back in the pile. Well he gave an excellent price, of the 4 I picked up, I only wanted the below. As to the other 3, I have a friend that also collects currency so I may pass them on (hence no pictures for now).

Yes the notes aren't in like new condition, but I think the price was really low and since I want the full series of Hawaii notes, why not start with this one.

I decided to keep these 2. The reason I like them is the contrast between 1928 and 1934. In 1928 the notes were redeemable for gold in 1934 they no longer are. I also like the light green seal. I picked these up for almost face so I can always spend them if I get better ones one day

But I really like the look. They were used, in the 20 and 30's $15 was a lot of money.
