Oh, sorry for taking a while to check back. The seller actually sent me photos of the coin without the holder--perfectly fine--and the holder halves were beside the coin, showing the rim.

Sorry to cause any kerfuffle.

Addendum: Not sure I can post, but it's been relisted.

Here's the pic he sent me last week

Plastic optics can really made things look weird. I bought a coin that looked like the entire reeded edge was sanded off, but it was perfectly fine on arrival.

Hi folks, ebay seller of the purported "counterfeit" walking liberty here. As dajones said, the apparent rim on the reverse was just an artifact of the plastic case that I did not notice until he pointed it out to me. Here are photos of the coin without the case and with and without flash. I am certain the coin is genuine as I received it as a gift in 1995 and it has begun to tarnish along the rim since then as a genuine silver coin would. I'm glad dajones directed me to this thread as ebay did not give me any explanation as to why they believed my item was counterfeit and the listing was removed. Happy to set the record straight.
