Two coins from Ukraine, one 2 Hryvni coin from 2003 commemorating Ostap Veresay (1803-1890) a minstrel and Kobza player, and one 2 Hryvni coin from 2022 commemorating Solomiya Krushelnytska (1872-1952) a lyric soprano. Ostap Veresay is credited with popularizing kobzar art both within Ukraine and beyond.
Solomiya Krushelnytska is credited with rescuing Puccini's Madama Butterfly from its otherwise failed debut at La Scala. The opera's rendition in Brescia starring Krushelnytska received widespread acclaim. Singing with her on the same stage was considered an honor according to Enrico Caruso and others. Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, ever the narcist, presented the singer with his own portrait with the inscription: "The most beautiful and charming Butterfly".
