New to bank rolls other than cents. Is it worth selling excess "finds" as a roll if you get enough of the same or individually? Or, do most people tuck them away for the future?

Thanks and stay well,

For those of you searching and finding boxes or rolls of new 2020's, I've noticed something unique. I've been focused on and looking very close at the edges of these coins before I look at each one.

You can no see it in these pictures but I've noticed a very slight but distinctive difference between the P's and the W's.

I can't quite determine exactly what it is I'm seeing. It's either the thickness of the coin, maybe a slight difference in the reeding, the copper clad luster or a combination of the three. Whatever it is, it stands out.

I've actually pulled W's from rolls like these just by looking at the edge first.

I look at the rolled edge and slowly turn the roll with the reflection of light and it kinda jumps out at you.

The next time you get complete new rolls, check and see if you can tell what I'm talking about, if there are W's in the roll.

W enders usually mean there are more inside.

@MOS0239 Are the W enders worth more still in the roll?
This is the orange rolls recycled is what I call them.

The red with the thin red line has all the new D quarters in it. The orange has all the recycled. Been circulated already. Both are machine rolled.

The W's are different looking because...

—-Slight differences in production methods and handling will lead to visible differences in product appearance.

—-They were minted at a different facility some months ago and are added in to newer quarters at the Philadelphia and Denver mints as the newer coins coins are minted, counted and bagged.

—-The older "W" coins will have had more time to be exposed to an oxidation environment.

—-A long ride in the back of a semi truck from the West Point Mint to the Denver or Philadelphia mint will take its toll.

That's my guesses.

Yep, all good points.

Plus if you have ever seen a brand new 2020-P and a brand new 2020-D, you will see a major difference in the finish or luster of the coins. Put them both together. The P's look like a satin finish, compared to the "almost" proof like finish of the D's.

That's all I see is D's. Seems to be the nicest looking coin between Denver and Philadelphia.

No need to feel bad about that. What you have found is nonetheless impressive.

@jbuck ya I'm impressed with the Rockefellers got two more last night out of a roll that puts me at 11 total. Had six Salt Water bay rolls but nothing on them.
