France 1939, 5000 francs. The lady symbolizes France, holding a Victory figurine. The reverse shows the mirror image exactly aligned with the obverse, a common security feature on French banknotes. The note measures 23 x 12.4 cm (about 9 x 5 inches). 5000 francs was about 130 USD at the time, corresponding to nearly 2,500 USD today. A big note for a big sum.
