France 1913, 100 francs.

The first French banknote made with four-color printing. It is a beautiful piece of art noveau, very different in appearance from the two-color banknotes (like the 20 francs note shown above). Despite its artistic qualities, it received some criticism for lack of realism in how the characters were portrayed. The boy to the left apparently has a short leg, and a physician of the time claimed there were medical conditions also in the other persons.
