I know nothing about varieties on these things. My first thought on your highlighted areas were die chips and clashes.
AU something.

I will say AU-58 to MS-62 I also believe it to be 1861-S WB-3, Large S, with a rarity of 3

@GMS5
I had thought so too, but it lacks the obverse characteristics below which are consistent with WB-3, unless the pictures dont show: Centered date with worn digits ; Die cracks in rock support to the left of the ribbon ; Clash marks in the drapery below Liberty's elbow and to the left of Liberty's right hand

@Steelers72
upon closer characteristic examination I think it actually is the WB-8, but perhaps a slightly earlier die state.

It's a tough call, I had agreed with you at first because the reverse by the leaves doesn't show as many die stress lines as the reference example. The small lump at end of the scroll on obverse tipped me to the 8. I will try it at PCGS, and see what they think. Both WB3 and 8 are very similar. Tough call. Thanks for looking I appreciate it.

I'd say AU-58. The reverse die could be either WB-3 or WB-8, but the date position looks more like WB-3. Very nice coin regardless.

I would say AU58 and the die marriage looks like WB-11 which is a "Discovery Coin" a rarity of 7. The die marriage sequence for the reverse is WB-3, 7, 11 and then WB-8. I think I see a die line in the skirt on the obverse which is only found on obverse 6 and an EDS for the obverse. The second use of obverse 6 is on die marriage WB-10 which has die cracks and is a later die state.

Can't help on variety. I don't see any wear and strike is pretty good. No worse than AU-58 and could go MS-63 if luster is intact.

The date position does look like obverse 6, and the reverse looks like an earlier die state than WB-8. Great coin!

Thanks @heymikep @zurie for insight on the variety. Confusing one to say the least.
