According to tracking information, it took my package one week to travel 10 miles! Even a tortoise is faster...

I've heard of snail mail but they are proficient at making it a reality.

I thought the US mail is one of the best in the world. Russian Post is pretty good, but only domestically. As soon as we are talking about international shipping, problems begin.

Quote: I thought the US mail is one of the best in the world. I would have agreed with that statement until last year. Yesterday I received my third shipment from Poland via standard registered letter in the last month or so. They arrived in 9, 17 and 22 days, so things are close to normal except I have needed to narrow who I buy from, since some other sellers have given up on the U.S, postal service, and opted for more expensive delivery options.

My latest debacle! HATED to do this to the seller, but I put in a PayPal dispute, never received my notes.

Ok, here's a good (new) one! I was expecting 4 packages today (all with tracking numbers. I set up alerts for all 4 when delivered so I can get out there to check they really got delivered. (NO, I do NOT trust my delivery person since he 'lost' then found a package after I said I was going to check my Cameras that watch my front door and mail box) ANYWAY, 3 of the 4 got delivered. the 4th one still pending. I'm sitting outside in front of my house posting stuff on here as I do at times and waiting to see if the postal person comes back. I was thinking that maybe the package dropped out of site during the delivery time and the person did not notice it. Then I get an alert about the item I was waiting for could not be delivered because they "did not have access to the delivery location" AKA my mailbox by the STREET! the delivery person never came back! I know 'cause I was outside when the alert came in. The person DID have access for the first 3 packages.. My delivery person LIED their butt off, probably because they didn't want to go back out and do their JOB properly!! The main reason I'm upset? the package that did not get delivered is a high dollar item.

Always best to contact the seller directly when this kind of thing happens, rather than put in a PayPal dispute. Not too long ago, a postal employee slit one of my mailers and took the contents. The buyer advised me of what happened and I was able to send a comparable replacement.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Hi John, I did contact the seller. I sent him an email and followed up with a phone call, the seller said he would get back to me but he never did. But in term of good new the package magically left the service center. PayPal only will settle after 10 days of no movement. Truthfully I really want the package. I only filled the PayPal claim in case the package is truly lost.

Not so long ago, I ordered several parcels from the United States and all their tracking ended on transit routes like London, then they went to Moscow and then it was impossible to track them. Is something similar happening in the US?

I am also interested in the question of unwillingness to send parcels around the world. Why do sellers refuse to do this ?

I don't know about packages leaving the U.S., but for packages sent to the U.S., yes. From @EddieDiz and my experience, there are some countries in Eastern Europe (Hungary, Poland), where the U.S. Postal Service will no longer provide any tracking info. Quote: I am also interested in the question of unwillingness to send parcels around the world. Why do sellers refuse to do this ? I think each situation is different. For sellers in the U.S., if you want to send a package with tracking outside the U.S., the cost is at least $15. This makes the shipping of low value items this way impractical. Some U.S. sellers do not ship outside of the U.S. because of the risk of the package going missing in certain destination countries. Shipping pre-WWII coins out of Italy requires the sender to go through a process of involving the Ministry of Culture, and which is currently experiencing very long delays. So some Italian sellers have stopped shipping outside Italy. ... and so on.

A lot of countries use third parties to deliver. Why you lose tracking on some area/country items and a lot of times this is why delivery is slow. There are sellers of second hand items who make a lot of money from postage.
