Yes, I would consider doing that type of work. The Fort Collins medals will have their local debut at the club's show on March 25.

So it sounds like your Idaho club would be making a medal for all the same reasons that the Fort Collins club did.

To give you an idea, to sculpt a design similar in detail and complexity to the one shown in this thread, along with the costs for carving 3D models and dies, would be roughly $1,500 total. And for a 39mm piece, it would be roughly $2-$3 per struck medal (plus the cost of any silver used). So, in other words, if you had, say, a $6 mark-up on each medal sold ($8.50 for brass and $18.50 for 1-ounce silver, for example), then you would break even if you sold 250 medals.

One thing to consider is that the quality of the design and workmanship will have a direct impact on how well the medals would sell. I think in most cases, people fail to grasp the full significance of that fact.

PS:
What do you think should be on the Idaho State Quarter ?
I think that you'd probably agree with me that it should not be a potato, or even a potatoe

Since the "Gem" state is favorite of rockhounds, I think a polished slice of a geode or agate would look neat on a coin, especially in proof

As I've posted previously, Daniel's artwork is tremendous.

As much as I like the Nevada Quarter, I liked Daniel's proposed design even better.

It's great having him as a member of CC, as well as a fellow Coloradoan.

Yep Old Dan, we Knights could have a heck of a dollar in 2007 if we could just talk Daniel into a little effort on our behalf.
