I actually got the 2009 Blue Book in my stocking. I didn't know Santa was such a numismatic aficionado! I know everyone talks of the Red Book. I have an older version of that. Is one better than the other? Are either of them any good? Or are they just one integral part of any reference library?

The basic difference: Red Book = Retail (what you can expect to pay for coins) Blue Book = Wholesale (what you can expect a dealer to pay you for coins)

From our oldest son, I received a Canadian Olympic Games Lucky Loonie, in Royal Canadian Mint packaging. One of two coins received this Christmas.

Correction on my gift, I got the 2009 Red Book. I am already well into my "Dummies" book, a very good book for beginner and expert alike. To add, I got the 2008 Silver Eagle, but there is no CoA in it, so I am contacting the seller to see if he still has it. If not, then I am trading it back to him for something of equal value. An unexpected gift, my 21 year old son came home from college, he couldn't last year, so this is a treat. Other gifts included a Bench Grinder, a Shop Light, a Miter Saw, A Brain Teaser Daily Calendar. Here is an interesting dilemma. I purchased the 2008 Silver Proof Mint set and my wife also got me one. So now that I have two, do I break open one to put the proofs in sets or do I trade one back in? Hmmmm.

My family know that its best NOT to get me any coins for Xmas, it's a jungle out there in the coin buying world. My In-laws got me a few coin books though: Getting Your 2 Cents Worth...Kevin Flynn The Flying Eagle & Indian cent Attribution Guide...Volume 1 Flying Eagle & Indian Head cents...Whitman Guide Book I keep a list of titles I would like to have in my desk. I'm pretty sure the wife told her folks which books to get.

Apologize for a brief diversion from this thread, but 007 is your Flying Eagle/Indian Head set complete? What grades? I lack about ten dates, including 1877 and 1909-S. That is a tough set, especially in the better grades. Most of mine are no better than VF.

I bought an 1857 FE earlier in the year for my 7070 that turned out to be a Snow 16, that sparked my interest in Indian Head/FE cents. I thought I'd get the books before I started working on the set.
Right now I'm concentrating on the 7070. I'm also working on a date set of 2 Cents in Ef or better, & a date set of 3CN business strikes. I guess I'll be adding the FE/IH cents to the mix when I get a little more knowledge. I can't seem to finish one goal before I'm looking at new ones.
