Quick question; I got a call from a guy yesterday who has been trying to sell proof sets on ebay, all later dates, no silver. Can you ship with the ebay standard envelope? He complained about how shipping cost killed any profit.

To qualify for the ebay standard envelope, it needs to fit in a regular envelope, be less than 1/4 inch thick and no more than 3 oz. So a proof set in a rigid plastic holder wouldn't work.

Are you sure that the proof sets are more than 1/4 inch and that they will be rejected by the usps in the standard?

Another point I have not seen made on this topic is that you need to enter the weight, 1,2 or 3 oz and the charge will go up based on the weight.

Yes, a typical proof set is thicker than 1/4 inch. Besides, the envelope can't be rigid because they run them through their letter processing machines.

Ok, so minimum $3.50 shipping or so, so all in you probably have to sell even the cheapest ones on ebay for $7.50 or more.

Unless you were to break the coins out of the plastic and put them in 2x2s
