Now I think I can re-purpose the holes I had reserved for these proofs for something else - that might require a re-arrangement of the coins so those now unused holes will be near the end of the album. So here is the first pre 1940 upgrade: 1909 VDB BU red: Collecting since 1972. Learning from then on "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. My plan its to start looking for BU coins first, if I can afford it, I'll get it, if not, then I'm looking for AU and slowly work down to a coin I can afford AND still look GREAT. I'm not aiming for low ball or even mediocre ones 'cause that is what I already have in there. I have to be realistic, my chance of getting a 1909-S VDB, 1914-D, 1922 no D, or a 1931-S all in BU condition in almost next to nil (I would probably have a better chance of getting the 1994 SMS half) Collecting since 1972. KenKat Pillar of the Community United States 4085 Posts	Posted 04/13/2023 10:12 pm The Philly mints 1909-1939 are not bad and you can do back to 1929 with the exception of the 31-S for not too much more per coin. It's the S and D mints from 09-28 that can be pretty challenging in the higher grades. Just gotta be patient and take your time and make a few compromises along the way.
