Quote: Package was delivered, needed to be signed for. Luckily I was in between calls at work. Had an incident that I had to address pretty much all day. Gotta love it when the timing hits! Quote: The package came in pretty beat up which concerned me. Oh my! All that back and forth in the beginning took its toll. Quote: Opening it up coins were well protected by newspaper. Very nice! Quote: Inside an insulated envelope. Good, good. Makes the external condition less worrisome. Quote: With the coins inside a plastic container. Outstanding! Quote: And Ed you were right as it was Notgeld. Looking good so far! Quote: And this is the last picture I'll post today as I still have work to do... I'll cover the coins and the story tomorrow.

Quote: Thanks all! I was pretty excited to get them. As were we. No one likes too much anticipation! Quote: Here is a sneak peak of the coins. Excellent! Quote: I'll take better pictures tomorrow and give the history.

Quote: Time for some history... In order to provide some normalcy the Casa De Moeda started releasing paper fractional currency... Gaia wanting to be different instead of script decided to issue ceramic coins... The coins... Fascinating background and wonderful examples! This was well worth the wait. Thank you for sharing everything with us!

Thanks all, like my wife says I collect weird items, but to me it's better to get the different items that what everyone else collects.

Quote: Less cost and competition Correct! A date set of Ikes is cheaper than the whole set.

Quote: A date set of Ikes is cheaper than the whole set. True, but, you know having the whole set hits harder. Even more when you have two.

Awesome additions Helder, and thanks for the history lesson. Not just on these coins, but throughout this thread,

@Ed,
I'm doing a type set of Portuguese currency like a 7070, but as Portugal has 900 years of coinage so instead of doing the full 7070, I'm doing a half set or 3535.

This might be it for coins from Portugal until I get back. I'm only looking to get 2-3 coins in Portugal. I would like to get a gold coin from the Monarchy and some historical coins. And maybe an Azore coin. If gold is too expensive, I'll get more, but really wanted a gold coin.
