I collected when I was young in the 60's after one grandfather gave me a Morgan dollar from his Vegas trip. I used to like to shine it up with some abrasive silver polish my mother bought me. Another grandfather gave me coins he brought back from world war 2. Lots of French, German and English coins. I collected into my 30's casually then sold everything.
I began again in 2014 when my sister who worked at a bank called me and said she got about 40 old silver dollars deposited and did I want them. I've been obsessed since and I'm a 93-S away from completing my Morgan's now.

I've been at it for some 45 years. My grandmother gave me a roll of uncirculated and lightly circulated Indian Head cents way back then. One of the very nice uncirculated cents was the 1909-S. There was no 1877 but still beautiful set. I stepped away at times over the years, but still enjoy the hobby.

About 40 years with time off during college years and when starting a family. Probably 25 active years.

I have been collecting on and off since 1969, 53 years ago,
It looks like a lot of us started around that time frame.
I started with whatever wheat pennies I found in pocket change and put them into a cheap Whitman folder.
