Well done Steve... Looks like they are starting to filter out. I am still sitting at a tally of 3. Simon

This is crazy! I'm in Canberra - home to the RAM and all I find is lots of 2009 2 dollar coins and 20 cents. 50 cents pops up once in a while and the others just don't exist! I managed to pull a couple of the pension dollar coins and just one MOR. Kinda stunned. Of course haven't found any 2010 coins yet. Maybe finding the Citizenship mintmark C coin took up all my luck.

lol To be honest, I am wondering if the '09 5c might be MSO possibly? I don't know what it is, maybe we might be in abundance for 5c & 10c pieces in circulation? Oh well time will tell =o) Until then we can just keep twiddling our thumbs waiting in anticipation of the first '09 5c find =o)

scary thought Simon. Another possibility is that we are being weaned off the 5-cent, in preparation for its discontinuance. Peter in Darwin

Ahhhh so true Peter, I had forgotten that... A very, very valid point indeed. The mint may very well be putting out lower mintages until the 5c is finally discontinued. Hey, you know what? This might be a good opportunity for all of us to stock up on what may be a scarce/rare release or two, assuming that the 2010 goes out the same way as the 2009 5c piece. I noticed that the 2009 mint set was commanding $50 at one of my local coin shops which had got me wondering what they knew that I didn't, so I came home and checked the bible (Maccas) and there are no mintage figures for the 2009 coins in there yet, so I am now scratching my head wondering what the final figures will be, and wondering if I should have stocked up on those '09 mint sets.

The Mint can't just decide to stop minting 5c coins, that will take an order from the Treasury, and most likely an act of Parliament initially, so everyone should know well in advance if / when that decision is ever made. Then we'll now whether we want to start hoarding them.

Nancy, Good stuff... As long as they give us ample notice =o) But I will continue hoarding all '09 stuff I can get my hot little hands on until those mintage figures are out.

I still don't understand why the mintage figures can't be released in advance for all circulation coins. In europe, most of the EU states issue the maximum mintage figures in advance. Why does RAM play "secret squirrel" with mintages. It allows for a lot of speculation.

I got $100 in 10c pieces from the bank yesterday and found 5x2009 10c. I also searched through $50 in 5c but no 2009's (1x1972).

Scored a 5c 2009 back in April 2009, picked up a 10c 2009 yesterday (August) at a cafe in change, and today after finally going through a box of loose coinage here at home two 50c and two $1 2009s.

I've been getting quite a few 2009 10¢ so they look to have a reasonably high mintage. I started keeping each one I found, but some of them were badly dinged, so I only keep the good ones now. While sorting yesterdays' coins from my Son's shop this morning I found my first 2009 5¢. I hope there's more where it came from. I also found my 4th Aust Day 50¢. Ozzie, Mintage figures for 09 coins won't be available until some time in September when the RAM releases their annual report. Even then, we won't necessarily know the final figures as sometimes the figures are released over a spread of years.
