Thanks all for the continued suggestions. I will check TPG and check the ebay sellers suggested.

Dearborn, yeah that is one of the challenges of this series -- you can find a very nice fairy clear obverse and then forget to look very carefully at the reverse where a nice ding in an open spot bites you in the arse upon looking at the coin later on.

I do love looking through rolls so I may still get a few for the fun of it.

Thanks again for being such a supportive group! Very lucky to be a member here.

My contribution on this particular thread is just to say that I buy two rolls of each the P and D for every state. I store away one roll of each for my hoard, and then the other two rolls I take out four coins from each. I'm building four coin folder sets of the series (one for me, one for my son, one for my daughter, and one extra for just in case.)

Then I take the remaining 42 coins to the bank and deposit into my account. So you might just find some of my AI coins in circulation!

Now when Illinois (my home state) is released in the coming years I might also buy a couple bags to hold on to.

Put another way: I'm collecting this particular series just for kicks.

I bought an album for Innovations yesterday and it looks like I'm also joining the coin search, alas, I don't have a single coin yet, but everything will change soon.

Well I just searched through 4 rolls of the recent issues - Tennessee 2021 from Denver Mint. OMG they were roughed up in being put into rolls. Whatever outfit the US Mint has doing this is doing a crappy job. I will see how the Philly fare later this week.

This experience confirms for me that it will be more affordable and take less time to buy some issues from ebay and get bags and rolls for one of the four issues annually.

So for those searching --- seems the erosion in the quality of care the US Mint is putting into packaging these coins and overall care is continuing!

You do have to remember that these P and D AI dollars are not intended for circulation and are struck as regular business strikes. If they were going to be placed into sets like the proof and RP's the 'handling would be much better. However that said, I (as I have stated) would rather buy them from the Bay as I have a bit more control over the quality of the coins I get - by that, I mean, if they are banged up and just plain ugly, I send them back and ask for a better coin. (One that looks like the one the seller would put up the image of - Which usually look great)
