7 grams seems light to me. They were very crudely made coins. From what I'm seeing, I would say that this coin is real compared to others of that era, except for the weight (which is oh so important). I could be incorrect though. These are a bit tough to define.

I found two coins identical to yours listed on MercadoLibre about a month ago. They are no longer there, but the images can still be seen if you google "zacatecas 1811 lvo mercadolibre". I was unable to copy and paste them.

The weight is way too low for an 8R. I have a worn authentic 1812 Zacatecas portrait head provisional which weighs 26.4 grams. Your coin is about the right weight for a 2R, and I can't see 8R on your coin either. What is the diameter? An 8R should be very close to 38mm.

Here is a similar authentic 1811 2R.

The denomination is at the top of the coin, on both sides of the crown. Looking at your image, I think I can make out 2R.

FWIW, mercadolibre has what appears to be an authentic 1811 LVO 2R. At today's Mexican peso conversion it's $633. USD.

A 2R is about as thick as a penny, and the diameter is a little larger than a quarter. 27mm. An 8R is a little larger than a US silver dollar, but not as thick.

Looks genuine to me. Weights do vary but 7.X is acceptable for this regal weight window range for a 2 Reale. John Lorenzo, Numismatist

The problem I have colonialjohn is the two coins identical to this one on MercadoLibre. And I mean identical: same centering, same letters visible, same wear, same stars. These coins are notable for their variability, not their sameness.

The ones on MercadoLibre were priced to sell too, for around $100 if I recall correctly. Authentic 2R's in this condition are $500-1000.

PS - Can the title of this be altered what this actually is - "ID: 2 Reales...", not "8 Reales"?

I'll admit its a good fake since a regal is crude looking to begin with - DANGEROUS.
