Congrats to herbaby and all winners!
About this coin . .
I'm a big fan of Victoria era coinage. Sovereigns, Florians, Crowns, Half Crowns, cents, etc . .
The St. George reverse is the more known variety. Commonly offered as bullion coins.
The shield back reverse is the more desirable amongst collectors. This one is a Marsh No. 56, Young Head Shield Back with die number. Located on reverse under bottom of shield. The numbering of dies was a quality control measure back in the day.
Anacs gave it an AU 53 grade. I was hoping for a 58 or better. The reverse is stunning, better in hand than photo.
