Quote: I may have missed it, but what year spread are we covering here? Thanks for asking, as the title suggests, this hunt will be covering the entirety of 2023, with the goal here to try and find as many Australian circulation coins I still need before the end of the year.

WEEK 29(17/07/23 - 23/07/23) This week I got to go out to the coin store one last time before my schedule gets busy again. Managed to buy a bumper lot of mostly Fijian pre decimal coins, including a 1938 silver sixpence (not shown). I also tried to noodle some coins today, but the branch I tried told me no and said something along the lines of "we don't have that much money in the vault/the money is there for the businesses". Oh well. No stats this week, actually I won't have stats in my weekly posts for the foreseeable future as I'm not noodling $1 and $2 coins

WEEK 30(24/07/23 - 30/07/23) I got a sealed $100 bag of 10 cent coins on Tuesday and pulled out six New Zealand 10 cents (including a new year; 1982) and my third 1985 10 cent. When depositing the leftovers I found a Czech 1 koruna coin from 2008 in the reject slot: And finally, a late afternoon run to the Woolworths service desk yielded me the two $2 coins I still need for the set! Two dollar coins still to find: 5 2013 Coronation 2015 Red Anzac Cove 2018 Armistice 2023 Red Vegemite 2023 Black Vegemite

If you've found a firefighters $2, I take it you don't live in SE Queensland.

Not necessarily found - I got mine for $7 from a person who had found it in circulation . . . in New South Wales

I also have been collecting two examples of every coin type and denomination that has been issued into circulation. The only rule is that they must not be bought at a premium over face value, and must be taken from pocket change, just as a kid would do. Have been collecting in this way for about 5 years, currently have about 250 different types (500 coins), covering all denominations. My only problem with this strategy, is that I happen to be a very old kid ! My first numismatic love is ancient coins, but I am not quite that old, and it has been a very long time since they were issued into circulation, and I really do need to keep my acquitisive nature healthy.

WEEK 31(31/07/23 - 06/08/23) No circulation finds this week. But. I managed to run off to the coin shop this week and bought a few things. First, the foreign coins: And finally, the Australian stuff, and with the purchase of the letter "L", my Great Aussie Coin Hunt 2022 set is complete! My first major milestone in this hunt. The coin shop I went to also had loads of the GACH 2019 set, which I have all sorts of trouble finding in circulation. I bought the letters "O" and "W" to fill in some rather annoying gaps in my collection. I'll wager the next time I have time to run off to the coin store they'll all be gone Stats:One dollar coins still to find: 7 (The final stretch!)

WEEK 32(07/08/23 - 13/08/23) I managed to get a HUGE haul of world coins from a friend: Let's just say I managed to fill in quite a few gaps and add some new countries and dates. Then in a noodle of $100 of 5 cent coins (not pictured), I managed to noodle six New Zealand coins (where quite a few were new dates) and a third 1972.

WEEK 33(14/08/23 - 20/08/23) This thread really should be renamed to "The Buys of 23" at the rate I'm going, because I'm not finding anything in circulation or through noodling anymore. But anyway, another visit to the coin shop gave me five of the six GACH 2019 coins I still need, plus a well earned upgrade for my 2019 P (not shown): and the same visit yielded coins from five new countries: Stats:One dollar coins still to find: 2 (2019 F, 2021 X)
