My PCGS extra V discovery submission is in the grading step of the process. I'm not sure how this new attribution thing works with PCGS. But for ngc I knew they decided to attribute when the updated the coin details info and it said extra V in description. I'm reluctant to call in and bug them on the matter. But as of now it's "being imaged" and in the grading stage. My question is would they just body bag it if they weren't interested? I will post the verdict here as soon as it's in.

PCGS will put it in a slab even if they do not certify it as an error. They have done this quite often to me when I have submitted "wounded eagles" Sacagawea's or "no fg" Kennedy's.

Considering that so many are getting slabbed in ANACS and NGC holders and are big sellers, I'd think that PCGS would want to slab them too to get in on that market.

Cherrypicker that's my thoughts as well. It's good for the hobby, don't be a wet blanket PCGS.

Update: I just checked the PCGS website and see that they are now attributing Extra V cents!

Just wondering.... how popular and enduring will this Lincoln variety be with numismatists?

I personally question if they will attain the level of interest as strong double dies (e.g., from 1936, 1955, 1972, and 1995); small and large dates; and significant metal changes (e.g., to steel and zinc).

On the other hand, these cents may be of greater interest than some other Lincoln varieties and/or errors, e.g., clashed dies, "floating head" cents, etc.

Justin - the photo is too blurred for me to tell you if you have a 2023 VDB V Lincoln Cent.

I suggest that you view this YouTube video, which provides guidance on how to spot a 2023 VDB V Lincoln Cent. It also addresses the die chip found on Lincoln's forehead, a key marker for this variety.

Has anyone heard back from PCGS abut their submission yet? I am waiting to see if they
certify one before I send mine in. Thanks!

Look what arrived today! Again thank you Mike Diamond for your expert analysis. PCGS is definitely more conservative on the grading than NGC.
