Took My 1974 SPORTSTER upstairs to My Brother's room to Disassemble and Create.... Parents found out Well After..... Months Later LOL...
In the 70's We CHROMED most Every Moving parts on Our Motorcycles. After Prepping for the PLATING, which took Hours taping and etc, We drove the Boxes of parts into Long Island City, The Last exit Before the Mid Town Tunnel to the Chromers.... Once the Chrome came back, with a Bluish Tint to it, SWEET. We re-Assembled the Bike, After Molding and Sanding and Painting the Bike with the Originally Mfg'd Tank Design, Only this time, No Decals.... After Assembling the Bike, Fuel, Wiring, Electrical, Carburetor,Chromed and mounted, She Ran Well...... Ride it, Like You Stole It.......

I'm a bit disappointed though that, with all that power up front, a posi in the rear, you opted to go auto tranny in the middle, rather than going with something like a Muncie rock crusher, 4 speed manual. Well there was a few limitations that held me back raising a family kept the money very low, the main reason for the 'upgrade' was that I was given that engine in trade for work they wanted me todo - and seeing that the original engine was a small 305 stock with a tiny 2 barrel riding up on top. Believe it or not, that stock tranny held up great. I was clocked at just over 168MPH (racing a Ninja crotch rocket) we stayed even to the finish line. But at the end of the line I had to let off the throttle because I was jamming too much air up under the car and I fully extended the suspension. The car got a little loose on the track, but after letting up it settled down. After that, I went and installed Trans-Am front and side front wheel spoilers on it and fixed that problem... My dream car that I want to rebuild is, again the 1978 Pontiac but Trans-Am this time with a 6.6 shaker under the hood. My dream is to reproduce the Smokey and the Bandits car. If I do it, it will be a complete tear down to the sub frame. Edited by Dearborn

@ Eagle, Use the Side Entrance, Garage in the Rear........... We Have the Technology.!!!! PS, I have seen Turbo 400's blow away Many a 4 Speed in the 1/4 Mile..... How " FAR " behind that Crotch Rocket were you @ the Finish line . Racing a Full Metal Weighted Car Against a Two Wheeled Motorcycle, HA !!!!!  |
